Brian Magner Fund Golf Classic
On Sunday the 1st of February 2015 Castletownroche GAA Club launched a Major Fundraiser in aid of our injured former Player and current assistant treasurer Brian Magner. This Launch was supported by Cork County Board Representative Michael Burns Development Officer and North Cork Board Officials Chairman John O’ Donnell and PRO John Courtney along with a big Castletownroche GAA presence in the Company of Brian’s family. Brian’s father Willie Magner was a renowned player for Castletownroche for many years as well as serving as a prominent referee to both County and North Cork Boards. A former Key Member of our Junior Hurling & Football Teams and current club official, Brian suffered serious Spinal Injuries in November 2014 in a mountain bike accident and has since been in the care of The Beaumount Hospital in Dublin, CUH Cork and is currently in the National Rehabilitation Centre in Dun-Laoghaire. Brian has been a stalwart of our Club since his Juvenile Days and has also been a key member of both the hurling & football teams in the club. Brain was a member of the team that won a Junior B Hurling County in 1998. He also served Abbey Rovers Football club with distinction for many years including captaining them to a North Cork Football Title in 1998. In recent years Brian has fulfilled many roles within the club including serving as a selector on both the junior hurling and football team. Brian has also been a major contributor to the many developments carried out on our facilities in recent years. He has also served for the last 6 years as the assistant treasurer. Castletownroche GAA are now launching a Major Fundraiser to help Support Brian in his recovery. The Major Part of this Drive is a Golf Classic which will be held in Doneraile Golf Club on Friday the 8th and Saturday the 9th of May 2015.The cost of a Team of 4 will be €200.The first Prize will be a 4 ball at the exclusive Old Head Golf Links, Kinsale, Co. Cork other prizes including best gross to be announced. We will also be giving people the opportunity to Sponsor a Tee or a Green at a cost of 100 Euro. We will also be holding a Draw with Tickets on sale at a cost of 5 euro per line. On the night of the Golf Classic a prize giving event will be held in Pat Mac’s Bar Castletownroche which will include an auction night to include Weekend Breaks, All Ireland Final Tickets, Signed jerseys and many more items A Bank a/c has also been set up in AIB Mallow for anyone who would like to make a donation to the fund (any subscriptions greatly appreciated) outside of the Golf Classic.
