Muskerry | 0-5 | Vs | 0-9 | Avondhu | Round 3, 17/04/2012 |
Avondhu | 1-12 | Vs | 0-9 | Beara | Round 4, 23/06/2012 |
Avondhu | 1-12 | Vs | 0-12 | Ilen Rovers | Round 4, 11/08/2012 |
Avondhu | 1-9 | Vs | 1-13 | O Donovan Rossa | Q-Final, 16/09/2012 |
The Avondhu Senior Football Team reached the Q finals of the Cork County Senior Football Championship of 2012.Under the Management Team of Daithi Peirce (Glanworth), Mitchel O Leary (Mallow), Eddie O Connor (Kildorrery), Paudie Curtain (Clyda Rovers). The Footballers started their Campaign in Fermoy on the 20/3/12 with a defeat to CIT on a score line of 0-09 to 1-09.Following this defeat Avondhu had to take the back door route in the Divsional Championship they recorded wins over Carbery on a score of 0-12 to 0-11in Cloughduv from there it was onto Riverstown and a meeting with Muskerry on the 17/4/12 Avondhu emerged winners on a score of 0-09 to 0-05. This win set up a meeting with Beara in Newcestown on the 23/6/12 again the Footballers of Avondhu emerged winners on a score of 1-12 to 0-09 this result qualified the team for the Championship proper and a meeting with Illen Rovers in Macroom on the 11/8/12 after a titanic struggle with the West Cork side Avondhu emerged victors on a score of 1-12 to 0-12. Avondhu had now qualified for the Q Final of the County Championship for the second year running and their opponents were O Donavan Rossa so it was back to Macroom on the 16/9/12 for this fixture and unfortunately it was not a happy hunting ground this time round as Avondhu were defeated on a score of 1-13 to 1-09 this was a very disappointing end to the Championship as we were well in the game and lead by 4 points midway through the second half but fatigue was a major factor in Avondhu losing this game as 4 of our players had played a major Club Championship match 24 hours earlier. However this Team has given us great enjoyment over the past year and I want to sincerely thank those involved both players and mentors for their commitment throughout the year. The present Management Committee have decided to step down for 2013 and as a Board we should congratulate this Management Committee for the work they have put into this Team over the past number of years it has been greatly appreciated by both by the Board and the Players and hopefully we can go from strength to strength in the coming year under new Management.
AVONDHU SENIOR HURLERS CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS 2012
Avondhu | 1-18 | Vs | 1-13 | Muskerry | Round 1, 28/03/2012 |
U.C.C | 0-20 | Vs | 3-15 | Avondhu | Round 4, 09/06/2012 |

| | | | | |
The Avondhu Senior Hurlers under the Management of Johnny Keane (Liscarroll), Pat Fenton (Kildorrery) Denis Twomey (Araglin) and Elton Pearse (Kilworth) qualified for the 4th round proper of the Cork County Senior hurling Championship 2012. Their Campaign started off with a trip to Cloughduv and a meeting with Muskerry in the first round of the Divisional part of the Championship. Avondhu ran out worthy winners on a score of 1-18 to 1-13. The next outing for the Avondhu hurlers was a meeting with UCC in Fermoy on the 9/6/12 the winners of this game would qualify for the Championship proper and with 8 changes to the Avondhu Team from the match against Muskerry and 6 U21s on the starting 15 the odds were stacked against Avondhu but with a great performance a famous victory was secured against the College on a Score of 3-15 to 0-20.The next round of the Championship paired Avondhu against Midleton in Ballynoe on the 18/8/12 after a great game Avondhu had to give way to Midleton side that got 2 fantastic goals which proved crucial and they ran out winners on a score of 2-15 to 0-17. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Players and Management Committee for the work they put into this team in 2012. It’s obvious that there is great potential in the Divisional hurling Team for the future and if this team can be kept together another County Championship title for the Division may not be far away.

TOTAL | 427(93)(58) | 43 (14) | 325 | 20 |
Total; This past year the Avondhu Board has been involved in the fixing of 427 games this includes both the hurling and football Avondhu/Imokilly Leagues. This shows a rise of over 100 games from 2011 even though we did not have any U21C competitions this year and also our JB1football Championship was run on a knockout basis. I would urge Clubs to refrain from giving walkovers especially in Championship as it demeans the competitions as you can see walkovers are up on 2011 figures. Hopefully this trend will not continue for 2013
