Coaching
In Avondhu we are so fortunate to have great Coaches looking after our young Hurlers and Footballers I would like to complement these people for the great work they are doing. Last year I wrote that we did not have a fulltime Coach in Avondhu, Thankfully this has changed with the appointment of Pat Spratt as our Full time GDA in the North Region (Avondhu/Duhallow), Pat is doing tremendous work and we look forward to working with him in 2015, I would encourage our Clubs to try and get Coaches in their own Community to go in to the schools and continue on the work of teaching our young people the skills of Hurling and Football.
Thanks also to Kevin O Callaghan and Noel Crowley for all there help during the past year.
SYMPATHY
Over the past year we lost some well known people from our Gaa fraternity in Avondhu. These
People are a great loss to our association but more importantly they will be missed by their families.
On behalf of the Board I would like to take this opportunity to pass on the Boards condolences to the
Families and Friends who have lost loved ones in the past year. Ar eis de go riadh se.
Scor
As we look back on another year of activity in Scór in Abhann Dubh we can proudly lay claim to three county titles and just one Munster crown and unfortunately none at All Ireland level. Two of our county titles came in the Scór Sinsear with Danny Corkery from Milford claiming the title in the Aithriseoireacht competition while the Ballyclough group of Sinead Ducey, Jennifer O'Mahony, Faye O'Donoghue and Lorraine O'Connell claimed the county title in the Bailead Ghrúp competition. These competitors did themselves, their clubs, their division and county proud in the Munster campaign but unfortunately the talent from the other counties proved too much. In the Scór na n-Óg two of our representatives progressed to the county final. Unfortunately for Maura Fitzgibbon from Milford she finished in the runner up position in the Aithriseoireacht. Our other representatives in these finals, Clyda Rovers fared much better. Their team of Cormac O'Hanlon, Saoirse O'Hanlon, Donncha O'Hanlon, Gareth O'Hanlon and Conor Daly claimed the winner’s prize in the Ceol Uirlise. They also qualified for the Munster final where they again claimed ultimate honours but unfortunately they did not have any joy in the All Ireland section.
Once again it is disappointing to report that participation in the Scór competitions is very very low. In the Scór sinsear just five clubs competed while in the Scór na n-Óg just six clubs participated. Scór is a valuable outlet to promote our native language and culture and it beholds every club to play their part and clubs that do not participate are failing in this regard. All clubs are to have appointed at their AGM's an Oifig Cultúr agus Gaeilge and this position is every bit as important as that of the Cathaoirleach. It is due in no small part to the trojan work that is done by Daithi Pierce that we have so many competitors taking part in Abhann Dubh.
In the Scór na Páistí competitions the story makes much better reading. Of the forty six schools in the division eligible to compete a total of twenty six of these participated, about 56% of them. For this a huge debt of gratitude is due to the hard working teachers in our primary schools. They put in a huge effort in the preparation of the children to take to the stage in spite of all the cutbacks that have affected them over the years and this work is appreciated by the Scór committee. The best overall school in these competitions and the winners of the Eddie O'Connor Memorial Shield were Ballygown National School.
A very special word of congratulations also to Kilavullen girls Niamh and Deirdre O'Gorman. Having come through auditions they got to appear on the TG4 programme Scór Encore. Niamh performed and was accompanied by Deirdre and on the night they finished second to the overall winner. The Scór committee is indebted to Michael O'Donovan who acted as Fear an Tí for our competitions and also to our very dedicated panel of judges.
The board acknowledges and appreciates the work of the Scór committee Daithi Pierce, Barry Aherne, Tim Ring, Dave Curry, Liam Hanley and Alec Morrissey.
Fionnbarra ÓhEathirn,
Scór committee.

The County Development officer and I are always on hand to help clubs with Any Development issues they may have. Referees
There is a very good working relationship between the Avondhu Board and the Referees in North Cork .I would like to thank all the referees in the division for looking after our games and would like to congratulate all our referees who participated at County and National level in 2014.
The Board had a total of 30 active Referees for 2014 we would encourage more new referees to take on the Job.
It was most disappointing that there was very little meetings held this year hopefully that will change in the new year with the a new committee being put in Place on that note I would like to thank John Sexton Chairman of the Referees Committee who is retiring from refereeing and wish him all the best for the future.
The Referees in Avondhu were kitted out with new Gear this year. The Avondhu Board Contributed to this.
